MASOOR KI DAL KE GOLE


Ready to serve
Masoor Ke Gole Masaledar

INGREDIENTS
  • 1   4 Cups whole Masoor (Dal)
  • 2   ¾ Cup Prepared Masala 
  • 3   Tablespoon Amchoor 
  • 4   Salt to taste
  • 5   1 Tablespoon Garam Masala
  • 6   1 Teaspoon Chillie Powder
  • 7   ½ Teaspoon Black pepper (optional)
  • 8   1,Teaspoon finely crushed or chopped Ginger
  • 9   ½ Cup Cooking Oil
  • 10  1 Teaspoon Ginger Julienne
  • 11  ½ Cup Red Onion Rings for final display of Goles
  • 12  Two Green Chillies 
  • 13  Few Lemon pieces to arrange on top of Goles
Method:
Soak Masoor for 2 hours in water. (to save time you may soak in lukewarm water or keep outside exposed to bright sun for one hour). Grind coarsely ( se picture No 2) in mixi with some water. Keep a shallow fry pan or Karahi on fire. Put one Tablespoon oil to grease the pan or use good non stick pan. Pour the Ground Masoor paste on it. Cook for 5-6 minute or till the extra water is reduces. Add oil to mixture, leaving aside 1 Tablespoon for final step. Add The Prepared Masala, salt, chillie powder, Amchoor, Cook for some more time constantly stirring to avoid formation of lumps. Add Garam Masala, Crushed Ginger, Black pepper. Stir cook till the mixture leaves the sides (as shown in picture No 3)

Remove from fire, leave for few minutes and form Balls (Gole) of the mixture by tight hold in palms, press hard in palms and roll to make good balls(Gole). Set them aside. Heat the Shallow fry Pan again put little oil to grease arrange a few Gole at time, (8-10 or depending upon the size of the Pan)

Stir the Goles, stirring holding the handle of the Pan in Hand, so that all sides of the Goles are crispy from outside.This enhances the taste of the Goles. Arrange in a flat serving plate. Arrange the onion rings to surround the Goles. Sprinkle Ginger Julienne on Goles. Split the green chillies from top, arrange on top of Goles. Keep the Lemon Pieces on sides of Goles, on Onion rings, or on top of Goles, as you may prefer. It’s a good spicy snack. Good for parties, good to go with evening tea. Prepared masala recipe is attached as it is referred on several recipes. In case you find it too hot eliminate adding item no 6,7,8 and reduce quantity of item No 5.
